Now that we know the O2 (Germany) Pre does indeed work on some international networks, I thought I'd start a thread where we can collect some info on that.
Someone posted a list over at infocenter. However, I doubt it's for real: http://www.palminfocenter.com/forum/...gs-db3-t46893/ Swisscom's on there and that provider definitely isn't supported at the moment (tested it myself). Important info: while the list was / is being compiled to the best of my knowledge, I can't personally verify all the entries. So they're without any guarantee for completeness or correctness. Also: the list is only valid for O2 (Germany) Pres. Reportedly, devices sold in Ireland and the UK behave differently. Australia Provider: Telstra Status: Supported (activation, data, voice + MMS) - 3G data reportedly only through roaming, EDGE works, though (thanks thewhitetower!) Austria Provider: 3 Status: Partly supported (activation, data + voice) (apparently 3G only, unconfirmed. Update: others say only EDGE works???) Provider: Orange Austria (thanks Flunsh!) Status: Supported (activation, data, voice, SMS, MMS) Provider: T-Mobile Austria Status: Supported (activation, data + voice) China (Hong Kong) Provider: Peoples (2.5G EDGE) (thanks garyau!) Status: unsupported (no activation) Provider: Smartone-Vodafone Status: Supported (activation, data, voice) Provider: Three (3G HSDPA): Status: unsupported (no activation) Denmark Provider: 3 Status: unsupported (voice only, no activation) (thanks Trekkie + pattersson) Provider: TDC Status: supported (voice, data + activation) (MMS unconfirmed) Dubai Provider: Etisalat Status: Supported (activation, data + voice) (thanks freakout!) Italy: Provider: 3 Italia Status: Supported (activation, data + voice) (MMS unknown) (thanks akitayo) Provider: Tim Status: Supported (activation, data + voice) (thanks wolfgart!) Provider: Vodafone Italy (tested with a business SIM card and a private one) (thanks chrispazz and mastahaze!) Status: Fully Supported (activation, data + voice, mms) APN web.omnitel.it Provider: Wind Status: Supported (activation, data + voice) (MMS unknown) Lithuania Provider: Omnitel Status: unsupported (no activation) (thanks petkus!) The Netherlands Provider: KPN Status: Supported (activation, data voice, SMS) Provider: T-Mobile Status: Unsupported Norway Provider: Netcom Status: Supported (activation, data, voice - mms untested) Provider: Onecall Status: Unsupported (data once you're able to turn on roaming + voice - no activation or mms) Telenor: unsupported Singapore Provider: Starhub Status: Supported (activation, data, voice) Sweden: Provider: Telia Sweden (thanks Andreas!) Status: Supported (activation, data, voice, SMS) MMS not supported Provider: Telenor Sweden (thanks Andreas!) Status: Supported (activation, voice, data, MMS) Switzerland: Provider: Orange Status: Supported (activation, data, mms + voice) Provider: Sunrise Status: Supported (activation, data + voice - MMS not supported) Provider: Swisscom Status: unsupported (voice only, no activation) UK: Provider: T-Mobile UK Status: Supported (activation, data + voice) (MMS unconfirmed) (thanks happymore!) Provider: Vodafone Status: Partly upported (activation, data + voice) (MMS unconfirmed) (thanks dr3wster!) PAYGO SIMs apparently unsupported! Ukraine: Provider: MTS Ukraine (UMC) (thanks dubiki!) Status: Supported (activation, data + voice) Provider: KyivStar: Satus: Unsupported (no activation, voice only) Last edited by dakis; 11/01/2009 at 11:20 AM. |

Once my Pre arrives, I'll check which Australian providers it works with.

A few questions about the German Palm Pre

Mine should be arriving this week too (from Germany to Australia) so I will test and report back. If my Telstra sim does not work I have an O2 Germany sim arriving and also have a Vodafone Greece sim as well. Hopefully I can get through the activation obstacles with one of these sims on hand.

To those who have reported their findings before and to those who are about to: could you also comment on whether MMS works or not?
I just found out that for Sunrise Switzerland, MMS doesn't work while data + voice are no problem. Not that I care much about MMS (this thing does e-mail, after all :-) but to some people it might be important. |

As reported by pattersson in this thread: Official getting a simlock-free (GSM) Pre thread, all countries - post #81 (sorry can't link yet), it seems like everything works with TDC (don't know if it's Telmore or Just TDC), and everything except data works on the 3 network in Denmark. Perhaps pattersson could elaborate, so this list could be updated?
How about Sonofon and Telia in Denmark? Anyone? Trekkie |

Oh, and Dakis, please add Vodafone UK to the list of supported. I got an e-mail back from Expansys UK (who I purchased my German Pre from) and they have told me that they put a Vodafone UK Sim in and it works perfectly ... this was after I already bought the phone ... just in case you're thinking they just said that to get the sale

Also check this thread: A few questions about the German Palm Pre
It has a theory to predict whether your SIM will work or not. |
