Default Stupid question on dead pixels

With the Pre and all other LCDs, are dead pixels a problem that exist from day one, or can they develop over time?

According to my knowledge and experience most dead pixels usually exist from day one because of the manufacturing process, there are also stuck pixels that can get unstuck and usually dont return after that. But Im pretty sure that they can develop anythings possible, but with the dozens of computer LCD screens and LCD Tv's that I bought it has never happened to me. To date there has only been two products that had dead pixels on them when I bought them and that was a computer LCD screen which I RMA'ed back and my Pre which I returned, because I couldn't exchange it back.

Speaking from experience, dead pixels can develop over the lifetime of a device.

Most that I have seen ship that way...but there are many conditions that can cause one...and it is also important to note the difference between a stuck pixel and a dead one:

There are many ways to fix a stuck one. Try googling "iPhone stuck pixel" to see some fixes. Some of the fixes are even web-based:

Yep, they can come that way, and they can just as certainly develop over time. I've seen them the most on computer screens where people are always poking the panel with their fingers instead of just pointing.
